Today is Norton Juster’s 88th birthday!
His first, and arguably most famous book, “The Phantom Tollbooth” was published in 1961.“The Phantom Tollbooth” won the George C. Stone Center for Children’s Books Award and continues to be treasured by children and adults alike today.
Juster once said, “I think kids slowly begin to realize that what they’re learning relates to other things they know. Then learning starts to get more and more exciting.” At Bernie’s, we know that when a child struggles to read in school, they may quickly decide that they do not like nor want to read. But, with an access to books before school begins, a child’s reading readiness will increase, allowing them to better enjoy the learning process
By donating your time or books to Bernie’s, you are adding not only to a child’s library, but to their bank of knowledge.
